Job Summary​

Safety Officer’s primary responsibility will be to provide support to PreScience’s operations in achieving Safety, Health & Environment (SH&E) goals and objectives in compliance with regulatory requirements. This is a part-time (PT) to full-time (FT) variable position.

Other responsibilities include:

• Assists the corporation to meet regulatory requirements relating to specific SH&E obligations

• Update and amend as necessary, PreScience Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP)

• Perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and Project-specific Safety Plans (PSSPs) in accordance with Client Service Agreements

• Based on JHA and PSSP, identify and facilitate training for PreScience personnel prior to or during assignment

• Assist the Resident Engineer in reviewing Contractor’s Safety Plans to ensure conformance with Client safety and government regulatory requirements and standards

• Periodic review and oversight of Contractor’s field operations on-site, identify potential safety hazards and/or violations

• Conduct safety orientation/review meetings and provide toolbox safety meeting content for tailgate safety meetings

• Document and follow-up to ensure that all necessary safety violations are adequately addressed and corrected

• Prepare periodic safety audit reports

• Investigate any ‘near-misses’, lost time or safety incidents, document the facts, and propose preventative actions

• Facilitate provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to personnel during on-boarding and throughout assignment

Minimum Qualifications

• B.A./B.S. plus 5 years of related experience as Safety Officer or demonstrated equivalency

• OSHA-30 certification

• Transportation construction experience

• Knowledge of Cal-OSHA and federal OSHA regulations

Preferred Qualifications

• CHST or CSP certification

• OSHA – Authorized Trainer

• Good communication and presentation skills (oral and written)

• Knowledge of MS Office Suite
