Description
The Durfee Avenue Grade Separation project will separate the roadway and the railroad tracks on Durfee Avenue in the City of Pico Rivera. Construction includes a roadway underpass on Durfee Avenue between Beverly Road and Whittier Boulevard under the Union Pacific railroad tracks with retaining wall and new steel girder railroad bridge. Other major elements include earthwork, utility relocations, pump station and shoofly construction.
Services
PreScience as Prime Consultant, is providing full construction management services. Scope of services includes but is not limited to constructability review, pre-condition survey, resident engineering, contract administration, progress payments, change management, traffic management, stakeholder and third-party coordination (utilities, railroad, cities), quality assurance inspection, scheduling, claims support and document control.
Challenges
Maintaining continuous traffic, bicycle and pedestrian flow in the local community and access to residences and businesses requires close coordination with ACE’s Public Relations Office. In addition, PreScience is working in close coordination with UPRR and strict adherence to its safety and operating guidelines, to eliminate adverse impacts on services and project schedule.
